The Mirror says with Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas chasing Real Madrid defender Pepe, Alex's position at the club now looks vulnerable.
The Brazil defender has attracted enquiries from AC Milan and Bayern Munich since the end of last season.
Should Pepe be signed, Alex is expected to be the defender to make way.
