Alex has agreed terms over a new contract with Chelsea.
The Mirror says Brazilian centre-half Alex has been pushing for a new three-year deal, and although the club only offered him two years they appear to have compromised.
Chelsea have also tied down Salomon Kalou to a new long-term deal as they move to sign up existing players after their FIFA ban for the next two transfer windows.
Alex is competing with Ricardo Carvalho and John Terry for a place in the Chelsea first team and is hoping his stability will boost his World Cup hopes.
