Alderweireld, Wimmer, Trippier start as Alli nets in Tottenham friendly

Tottenham's Dele Alli scored a stoppage-time penalty in his first run-out for the club as Spurs claimed a victory over Brentford in a behind-closed-doors friendly on Wednesday.

The 19-year-old midfielder, who joined from MK Dons last season, scored Spurs' second penalty of the match in extra-time.

Shaq Coulthirst had earlier given Spurs the lead from the spot in the 25th minute.

Alli made it 2-0 with 93 minutes on the clock, before Jermaine Udumaga grabbed a last-gasp consolation for the visitors.

The match saw Toby Alderweireld made his debut for the north Londoners, starting the match alongside fellow summer signings Kevin Wimmer and Kieran Trippier.

Tottenham will now head off to Colorado next week for the MLS All-Stars game.
