The father of Atletico Madrid defender Toby Alderweired has distanced his son from reports claiming he is set to sign for Tottenham.
Vic Alderweireld, who represents his son as his agent, released a statement that said: "We have a concrete agreement with no one. There are conversations right and left but currently there are no changes from the last few weeks."
Alderweired has been been linked with several clubs during the transfer window, but it was believed that his move to Tottenham was imminent after reports suggested the player had passed a medical and signed a contract at White Hart Lane.
Southampton, for whom Alderweired played on loan last season, believe they have first option in signing the Belgium international from Atletico and are hoping to wrap up a £6.8million deal.
The south coast club are threatening legal action if Spurs happen to sign Alderweireld, claiming that they had an agreement with Atleti.
