Toby Alderweireld played through the pain barrier to help Southampton defeat Tottenham on Sunday.
Alderweireld played through the agony of a broken bone in his shoulder.
He said: "I played with a lot of pain but I did my best to play and to help the team.
"Everybody wants to play and last week I felt with my shoulder that maybe my season is over.
"The desire to play is very big and I want to help the team, even with pain. You can't get an injection to the injury itself because that's very dangerous, so you just go with the pain and focus on the adrenaline."
