Everton defender Antolin Alcaraz says the positive impact of manager Roberto Martinez last season is no surprise.
The pair worked together at Wigan Athletic.
"I'm not surprised in the least that he's had such a successful year," he told evertontv.
"When I arrived at Everton, I was asked questions like what Roberto is like to work with.
"I see Everton as a different set of players and a different Club - almost as a continuation of the work he did at Wigan. The way in which he goes about things has not changed.
"I really appreciate the way he plays football, the style of his passing game with the ball on the floor. His philosophy was one of the reasons why I came to English football with Wigan because of how his side played.
"I'm not trying to dictate and say that's the right way because some people prefer more direct football is just as successful. You can win trophies both ways, but I really enjoy the way Roberto wants to play."
