Real Madrid defender Raul Albiol was delighted with his comeback for victory over Rayo Vallecano.

Albiol was a surprise inclusion for the 6-2 triumph.

He said: "We didn't do very well in the first 20 minutes. Rayo attacked and surprised us with the first goal. It took us a while to recover, but we knew how to react. We also ended up being one man down, so we're happy for having earned a victory after two mishaps.

"I'm happy for playing again and because the team won. I try to participate and help any way I can. Fans expected us to play our best after two weak performances and we lived up to expectations.

"I congratulate the fans for being patient with us and for never stopping supporting us.

"We will play an important match against Ajax on Tuesday. We want to keep up the good work in the Champions League and win our first home match of the season."
