Bolton Wanderers goalkeeper Ali Al-Habsi has been urged to remain patient. The Omani international is understudy to Jussi Jaaskelainen and yet to feature this season.
Al Habsi has been linked with a move away from the Reebok when his contract expires in 2009.
"I have spoken to Ali and told him to be patient," says keeper coach Fred Barber.
"Jussi might have a bad time playing, or maybe get injured, and if that does come up he will have to take his chance. It's the same advice as I passed on to Jussi when he first came here.
"Jussi has signed his new deal to stay here for the next four years, but Ali is only 26.
"Obviously I hope Jussi keeps doing well because that will mean Ali can keep improving. I have sat down with him and talked about this and he wants to stay at Bolton. If it was any goalkeeper aside from Jussi, he might have a problem, he would probably be knocking on the manager's door.
"But he understands Jussi is one of the top three keepers in the Premier League and he'll have to be patient for now and take his chance when it comes along."
