Al-Gharafa's Bresciano to contest four-month FIFA ban

Mark Bresciano says he will fight the four-month ban handed down to him by FIFA.

The Australian midfielder has been sanctioned for his transfer from Al Nasr to Al-Gharafa which occurred in August 2012.

FIFA have suspended the former Parma, Palermo and Lazio man for four months in relation to his move from the UAE to Qatar but he insists that nothing untoward has eventuated.

"It's not an illegal transfer, there was nothing done illegally," Bresciano told reporters after playing for the Socceroos in Tuesday night's 1-0 win over Costa Rica.

"I was surprised when it came out. I think there is a good chance we will fight it.

"I'm getting the best legal advice so I think in the next couple of days we'll make a decision."

He added: "I have to wait until I get back to my club. I have been told not to say much because it's a legal matter.

"I'm just weighing up my options and we have to see what we can do."
