Al Ain will not let Gyan head back to Sunderland

United Arab Emirates club Al Ain are not about to let Asamoah Gyan go back to parent club Sunderland.

The Ghanaian striker is on a season-long loan at the Sheikh Khalifa Stadium but it has been reported that the Black Cats are keen to have him back at the Stadium of Light in January.

However, it has emerged that there is no recall option on his contract and he is set to remain with Al Ain until the end of the current campaign although he will be away for most of January and part of February for the African Cup of Nations.

"I think he feels good here, we supported him to get back into shape and to do good things for the national team in the African Nations Cup, " Al Ain manager Cosmin Olaroiu told The Times.

"It is also my opinion that he feels something for this team and for the people who work with him, and he will remain here."
