Al Ain midfielder Mirel Radoi was the subject of considerable interest for Arsenal according to Romania boss Victor Piturca.
The 32-year old former Steaua Bucharest and Al-Hilal star emerged as a target for the Gunners recently but the North London club in the end did not pursue him aggressively.
"Radoi nearly moved to England," he told Dolce Sport.
"Arsenal are interested in him. Even [Romanian coach] Loti Boloni told me he talked with Arsene Wenger about Radoi, but his problem was speed and height."
