Al Ahly have approached Hull City about cutting short Gedo's loan.
The 28-year-old made his top-flight debut for the Tigers in the 1-0 defeat by Crystal Palace at the KC last month, but hasn't featured since he came on as a second-half substitute in the 2-0 loss Arsenal.
Al Ahly chief Hady Khashaba confirmed: "Hull City sent a letter informing us that they will announce their decision on Gedo's situation on 10 January.
"Hull City has the right to terminate Gedo's loan deal and allow him return to Ahly, so we are waiting for their decision."
