Al Ahli deny loan for Sheffield Utd's Fathi

Al Ahli have dismissed reports of a loan deal for Sheffield United midfielder Ahmed Fathi.

The Egyptian joined The Blades in January from Ismaily, but made just three appearances as the club were relegated from the Premier League.

But reports have claimed that Ahli had lined up a deal to sign the 22-year-old on a year-long loan arrangement.

Al Ahli vice-president Mahmoud Al-Khatib, however, has refuted suggestions that the club have held talks to sign Fathi on loan.

"We haven't held any negotiations with Fathi nor do we intend to," Al-Khatib told the club's official website. "Everything that has been said regarding this matter is completely untrue.

"Fathi is a very good player and many clubs hope to have him at their disposal.

"However, Ahli respect his decision to continue his spell in England despite Sheffield's relegation."
