The head coach of the University of Akron's soccer team, Caleb Porter, is set to become the next coach of MLS club Portland Timbers.
A number of reports suggest that the Timbers have agreed a deal for the 37-year old Akron Zips boss who also takes charge of the USA U23 national team.
The Timbers currently have technical director Gavin Wilkinson in the interim coaching post following the July sacking of John Spencer.
Wilkinson managed to win his first game in charge as the Timbers beat Vancouver Whitecaps 2-1 on the weekend but he is likely to slot back into his old role if Porter accepts the reported offer.
