Tottenham have suffered a setback in their pursuit of Ajax defender Davinson Sanchez.
Spurs, who are yet to buy a single player this summer, have been linked with the 21-year old, who is rated at £35m.
However, an Ajax spokesperson told Sky Sports: "Last year Sanchez signed a five-year contract and we don't want to let him go.
"That's what (sporting director) Marc Overmars has told the player and his agents.
"He is a great player who is very important for us. Next to that, we never comment on rumours regarding transfers."
Overmars also confirmed to Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf that Ajax would offer Sanchez an improved contract after just one successful year at the club.
