Ajax are eager for Chelsea to return to the negotiating table for fullback Gregory van der Wiel.

The Dutchman has been a long-term target for Chelsea, but appeared to be on his way to Valencia this year.

Ajax are now prepared to accept £10m.

Valencia, though, do not want to pay more than £6m and they believe they are in a stronger position than Ajax, which are banking on Chelsea joining the battle to create an auction.
