Ajax captain Jan Vertonghen has told teammate Christian Eriksen not to follow him to England.

Vertonghen hopes to join Tottenham this summer, but says Eriksen, a target for Manchester United and Chelsea, should spend another year in Holland.

"I think he can become a world star, but I think it's good for him if he stays another year at Ajax," explained Vertonghen.

"Then he can develop further under the wing of coach Frank de Boer. I think he will then be ready for the next step"
