Ajax have moved to tie up Maarten Stekelenburg to a new contract.
Manchester United are chasing the Holland No1 as a replacement for the retiring Edwin van der Sar.
The 28-year-old is now set to discuss his career plans with Ajax officials and manager Frank De Boer, with a final decision expected to be reached soon.
United are expected to move for Stekelenburg should David de Gea choose to stay at Atletico Madrid.
