Ajax defender Gregory van der Wiel says he couldn't leave in January like former skipper Luis Suarez did for Liverpool.
Van der Wiel has no problem with Suarez joining the Reds in midseason.
But he says: "No, I would not. Middle of the season is also different, I think. We are together from the beginning of the season and if you leave, you let the club down a bit.
"When I start something I want to finish it. But I understand Suárez, it is fine.
"He played for Ajax for two years at his peak and for him it was time for a new step."
