The minders of Ajax fullback Gregory van der Wiel say he is excited about interest from Barcelona.

Any deal is unlikely until after the World Cup, but the Holland international welcomes the prospect of moving to the Nou Camp.

His representative, Hakim Slimani, said: "He would be a great signing for Barca. For me it is the best team in the world and with the best players, and Gregory thinks the same.

"In addition, the club have won things with Cruyff, Neeskens, Cocu and many others. For the Dutch it is a very special club."
