Ajax coach Frank de Boer feels star pair Christian Eriksen and Jan Vertonghen acquitted themselves well in defeat to Europa League opponents Manchester United.

The pair have been linked with a move to the Premier League this season.

"They will definitely reach the level of teams like Manchester United in the coming years," De Boer said.

"They are close now and hopefully we can keep hold of them for as long as possible."
