Ajax are yet to hear from Aston Villa over their interest in defender Thomas Vermaelen.
Villa boss Martin O'Neill checked on Vermaelen last weekend in action against FC Twente, but is yet to make a firm approach to Ajax.
"Aston Villa has not said anything to us. So it's useless to talk about this," said Ajax chief Danny Blind.
