Aidy Boothroyd favourite for England U21 job

Aidy Boothroyd is favourite for the England U21 job.

The Daily Mail says ex-Watford boss Boothroyd has moved a step closer to being named the new England Under 21 head coach after being chosen to represent the Football Association at the draw for Euro 2019.

The FA insist the process to pick Gareth Southgate's successor is still on-going after they held interviews earlier this month over two days at St George's Park and Wembley and Boothroyd is going to Switzerland today purely in his position as the interim coach - he was in charge for four games last October and November.

Paul Ince, Stuart Pearce, Steve Cotterill and Michael Appleton were the candidates who were put through a rigorous process that was overseen by Dan Ashworth, the FA's Technical Director, Southgate, FA Chief Executive Martin Glenn and Howard Wilkinson.
