The former Osasuna and Atletico Madrid coach is being lined up at Zaragoza to replace Jose Aurelio Gay.
Marca says Zaragoza president Agapito Iglesias is in talks with Aguirre's agent, Pere Artigas, over terms.
Aguirre is available after leaving the Mexico job following the World Cup.
