Sergio Aguero was substituted at half-time of Manchester City's 4-2 Champions League win over Viktoria Plzen on Wednesday night despite scoring in the first half.
The Argentine striker converted from the penalty spot for his 16th goal in 16 appearances in all competitions this season but was replaced by Jesus Navas at the break.
Manager Manuel Pellegrini was quick to offer the reason why Aguero was subbed, suggesting it was purely a precautionary move.
"(With) Sergio we made a change as he is playing too much and from the beginning he knew he was only playing 45-minutes," he told Sky Sports.
