Agnew rues poor Middlesbrough defensive display in Hull loss

Steve Agnew admitted his Middlesbrough side were poor defensively at Hull City last night.

Boro were beaten 4-2 at the KCOM Stadium to suffer their fourth loss in their past five Premier League outings.

"Defensively as a team we were poor tonight," he told Sky Sports after the match.

"You can't concede goals like that in the Premier League. It's a very tough league so we're all very disappointed with the goals we conceded tonight.

"We just have to find the balance. We knew we needed to score goals but equally we have to keep a nice solid shape which has been a characteristic of the group this season and we didn't."

Alvaro Negredo and Marten de Roon were on target for the Teessiders but it was nowhere near enough as the Tigers ran riot on Humberside.
