The New York Times is reporting that the agent who brought Costa Rican international defender Carlos Johnson to the attention of Major League Soccer's New York Red Bulls in January and negotiated a contract with the team has filed a complaint with FIFA claiming that Johnson switched agents in violation of an existing contract. Jan H. Schiefloe, a California-based agent, claims that the Red Bulls directed Johnson to a Colombian agent, Reuben Caicedo. It was Caicedo who had engineered the signing of midfielder Lider Marmol by the Chicago Fire in 2007, when Juan Carlos Osorio was its coach. Osorio is now the coach of the Red Bulls and also from Colombia.
