Agent urges Hodgson not to ignore Swansea's Britton

The agent of Leon Britton has urged England coach Roy Hodgson not to ignore the Swansea City midfielder.

Glenn Corcoran questioned if playing for Swansea may have counted against Britton.

Despite his amazing stats - his completion rate was a staggering 93.3 per cent - Hodgson opted for Liverpool's Jordan Henderson in his squad rather than Britton, who last represented his country at Under-21 level 13 years ago.

Corcoran said: "After the defeat by Italy on Sunday, everyone was saying England are crying out for a player like Andrea Pirlo, who can sit deep, retain possession and take the pressure off the team. If you look at the stats, the player who was the best at doing that in Europe last season was Leon.

"You have to wonder if the fact Leon plays at one of the more unfashionable clubs in Swansea stood against him.

"But I'd like to think with Hodgson talking about a revolution with England he will come and have a good, close look at Leon."
