Acerbi, 23, is currently co-owned between Chievo and Genoa, the side who signed him last summer from Reggina.
"Milan could get the OK from us in a small amount of time, but an agreement between clubs has to be reached first," representative Andrea Cattoli told Solo Calcio.
"I want to thank Chievo sporting director Giovanni Sartori who believed in him at the start of the season when Genoa treated him like a parcel in the post.
"He has a contract until June 2016, but I don't think it will be a problem for Milan to do a deal with the two clubs. The player obviously wants to move to a top club."
