The agent of AS Roma signing Rafael Toloi admits Sao Paulo were reluctant to part with the midfielder last week.
Toloi has joined Roma on-loan to the end of the season.
Francesco Marseglia told TMW: "Negotiations lasted ten days, it was very hard because Sao Paulo thought he was too important a player in the beginning and wanted to sell him outright or insist on repurchase obligations.
"Roma could only do a loan with the option to buy him permanently, and so we convinced them in the end."
He added: "AC Milan could've signed him, but only in June, Fiorentina made contact and wanted him, but in the end they decided not to take him."
