Real Madrid's Italian agent Enzo Bronzetti has revealed Roma are actively seeking talks with Barcelona over a deal for their defender Cristian Chivu.

Chivu is wanted by Inter Milan after rejecting a new contract offer from Roma last week, however Bronzetti revealed last night: "Yesterday, the sports director from Roma called me, Daniele Prade, and I have passed on the contact details of Ferran Soriano (Barca's vice-president).

"It's not the first time the Catalans have shown interest in Chivu in order to strengthen their defence.

"Soriano is a good operator. He will first try to reach an agreement with Roma, then he'll deal with the player's representatives."
