The agent of Rino Gattuso has confirmed the midfielder has penned a new contract. The Rossoneri star, a target for Manchester City and Chelsea, inked a new deal to 2012 yesterday.

Andrea D'Amico told TMW: "It was very important that Rino had a meeting which was open and honest with (Adriano) Galliani. It consisted of silences and glances rather than words.

"The moment in which the player knew that Milan wanted him, that he could provide even so much more for this shirt, these fans and these colors, he has decided to stick with the Rossoneri.

"And furthermore to lower his salary."
