The agent of new Cagliari signing Moestafa El Kabir says Everton came close to landing the Swede.
Cagliari president Massimo Cellino announced an agreement with Mjallby last month for the young striker.
His agent, Roberto De Fanti, told TMW: "There was Everton, who were in advanced negotiations for him.
"But with a real blitz from Cagliari, they were able to close a deal for the player."
