FIFA agent Bernardo Brovarone believes Javier Mascherano could stay with Barcelona.
The appointment of Luis Enrique has changed the situation, says Brovarone.
"Luis Enrique has put everything back up for discussion," he said. "His contract is not lavish, he earns 3.2m a season.
"The two parties [Barca and Mascherano] are talking. Because of what Enrique wants, discussions have reopened. Some things still need to be resolved and when there are figures involved there is always a risk.
"Barcelona are obliged to prolong his contract but the player doesn't seem to agree, so the situation could go on for a while.
"Mascherano's goodbye was certain before Luis Enrique's arrival. Then, discussion reopened on a subject that was already closed.
"Tamer went to Barcelona to find out what is going on and today, he remains there."
