Manchester City have made contact with Frank Rijkaard about the vacant manager's post.

City are expected to name departing Malaga coach Manuel Pellegrini as new manager.

However, Rijkaard's agent Perry Overeem revealed to Algemeen Dagblad: "He is finally taking a sabbatical.

"Frank knows their (City) technical director Txiki Begiristain well from his time at Barcelona. But even that job could not interest him."
