Agent: Juventus can't afford Chelsea's Lampard

One of Frank Lampard's agents says a move to Juventus for the Chelsea midfielder is unlikely.

"I think it would be difficult for Lampard to leave - at least this year," Franco Granello told Italian radio.

"You need more than £3.5m just for Lampard's yearly wage and Chelsea can set any price tag they want on the player's head, as high as £28m.

"Roman Abramovich does not need the money and Lampard has just bought a new house in town, so I think it is unlikely that he will leave."

Juve fans were hoping that new Coach Claudio Ranieri might convince Lampard to leave Chelsea after successfully working with him at Stamford Bridge in the past.

"The Bianconeri need a player like Lampard and Ranieri is the Juve Coach, so it was logical to consider this option.

"However, there are some situations that make this deal very complicated," added Granello.

"Juve have £35m for their transfer campaign, which is as much as they have had in previous years, but that money must be divided over four or five players and not just one or two.

"Frank would enjoy playing in a different club and would be willing to leave Chelsea, but the financial issues seem an insurmountable obstacle at the time being."
