Agent Federico Pastorello admits Inter Milan had agreed a fee with Olympique Marseille for Giannelli Imbula.
The midfielder signed for Porto yesterday.
“Imbula want to Porto because of the transfer fee. The Portuguese club satisfied Marseille, although Inter had already reached an agreement with the French club.
“Imbula said yes to Inter, but didn't rule out Porto. A better offer then came in from Portugal. Marseille had to get as much as possible for him, and get cash quickly.
“The agreement was there, but Porto came back in with an offer which proved to be decisive. They went further than Inter in terms of payment, so the Dragao prevailed.
“Imbula didn't rule out either destination, there were positives and negatives on both sides, in the end the difference was the agreement between the clubs.
“We always stood firm, we didn't raise the offer, because we had a planned budget for this player. We made an offer to the French club, and after that there wasn't much we could do."
