Agent Ferrari admits Chelsea mega spending stunned Italian football

Italian football was stunned by the spending on transfer deadline day last month by English clubs.

Chelsea splashed out £75 million on David Luiz and Fernando Torres, while Liverpool closed a £35 million deal for ex-Newcastle United striker Andy Carroll.

High profile Italian agent Fabrizio Ferrari says it was stunning watching from abroad.

"The transfer of strikers always equals big money so ... It's weird that this has happened in January, with big English clubs targeting strikers," Ferrari told tribalfootball.com.

"The last January market surprised me for the money spent on transfers, it means that clubs didn't work well in the summer (market) or their teams failed to achieve the target they were supposed to meet."

Ferrari's FK Sports Management company represents several stars' interests in Italy, including targets for major Premier League clubs.

Asked who tribalfootball.com fans should be keeping an eye on for the remainder of this season, Ferrari added: "I think everyone should follow the future of Aly Cissokho at Lyon, who I represent in Italy, and as young player Eliaquim Mangala of Standard Liege, the France U21 defender."
