Agent fees rise for Brentford

League One Brentford spent £130,686 in agents fees during the period October 1 2010 to September 30 2011. The figure marks a significant increase from the figures of £75,626 and £68,100 for the corresponding 2009/10 and 2008/09 periods respectively.

Sporting director Mark Warburton told the club's website: "Brentford football club will always seek to ensure that value is sought for every pound spent from the playing budget and such sums allocated to the payment of agents have never and will never be taken lightly.

"At the same time, the club has ambitious plans to move forward and recognises that to secure players of ever higher quality, such payments are now an inevitable necessity.

"All connected with the club can be assured that all appropriate care and attention is taken with regard to this important area of expenditure."
