The agent of new Juventus signing Fabio Cannavaro has defended his performance at the Confederations Cup. "It seems to me an exaggeration to blame Fabio for what happened," said Gaetano Fedele. "Of course, the team has fallen short of expectations. Fabio has done what he could. I am convinced that for him this season will be important, because in difficult times he has always fought back."

On the anger from Juve's ultras over Cannavaro's return, Fedele added: "This is an abnormal situation by a fringe group of fans, but let us not forget that there is a large majority who are happy with the return of Fabio.

"He just has to provide some high level performances and everything will return as before. If Juve signed him, obviously they saw in him great quality."
