The agent of Real Madrid attacker Julio Baptista admits there's too much confusion surrounding speculation over his proposed move to Roma.

"Roma have not spoken to me and I must say there is a lot of confusion around this situation," insisted agent Herminio Menendez on stadionews.it.

"If Roma have not had a meeting with Real Madrid or with me, it's difficult to take negotiations forward.

"All week there has been talk of Baptista going to Rome, but right now Julio is a Real Madrid player and I repeat nobody has discussed it with me or the club."

There had been reports that director of sport Daniele Prade flew out to Madrid for advanced negotiations with both Real and Atletico Madrid, the latter for their interest in Jose Antonio Reyes.

"In Italy the newspapers say Real and Roma are very close to a deal, but that is not the case," continued agent Menendez.

"Nobody, not even director of sport Prade, has spoken to me."
