The agent of West Brom striker Kevin Phillips has played down talk of a move to Leeds United.

Leeds have reportedly entered the race to sign Phillips, although his agent Phil Smith believes the Yorkshire club's defeat in the play-off final rules them out of the running.

"League One is not preferable and, to be perfectly honest, if it wasn't Leeds there would be nothing to discuss," Smith told the Yorkshire Evening Post.

"It is unlikely that it would happen, and until we have spoken to West Brom we won't be holding conversations with anyone else."
