The agent of Barcelona fullback Gianluca Zambrotta has cooled talk of a January move to AC Milan.

Marcello Bonetto said: "It is very premature to talk of a transfer to Milan for Zambrotta, while knowing the esteem the Rossonero club has regarding my client.

"However, I believe that direct contact between the two clubs hasn't occurred, Zambrotta has three years on his contract and it is not true that he has problems in Barcelona."

Bonetto added: "It goes without saying that an Italian player who has family near Milan, can feel Milan are a valuable option."
