The agent of Siena striker Massimo Maccarone has revealed his client is close to a move to Palermo.

Palermo are in pole position to sign him, but Sampdoria have also been monitoring his situation carefully.

Paolo Fabbri told TMW: "Maccarone is still waiting for an answer from Siena. But meanwhile I can say that Siena are also beginning to talk to Palermo to see if they can do anything.

"Like I said to Massimo, it's useless to wait long for a team that might never arrive with an offer. At this point, I believe that he could go to Palermo, the intention is there.

"I think there will be no problems once he has spoken with the club."
