The agent of Yuto Nagatomo admits the Inter Milan fullback was close to joining Bayer Leverkusen.

The Japan international recently signed a new deal.

Federico Pastorello told GR Parlamento radio, “His renewal was strongly wanted from both sides, despite much more important offers from Germany. In fact, we're talking 40-50 per cent higher wages.

“Bayer Leverkusen, in particular, showed huge interest, but his desire to remain at Inter facilitated negotiations."
