Agent admits Brighton close to deal for Mamelodi Sundowns forward Percy Tau

Brighton are moving for Mamelodi Sundowns forward Percy Tau.

The Sunday Times says Sundowns have rejected three bids from Albion, according to Tau's agent, and president Patrice Motsepe has slapped a £4 million price tag on the head of the South African player of the season.

Albion increased their initial offer to £2 million and a 7.5% sell-on, then to £2.2 million with a further £300,000 payable next June and a 5% sell-on. Sundowns are demanding a £2 million downpayment and another £2 million in 2019 with no sell-on.

Sefalafala said: “Last Saturday Tau sent Motsepe a text message requesting the president to 'Please help me, I need your assistance, in January we spoke about this, you said if we get an opportunity we will talk'.

“Usually, when Percy texts him, he responds immediately. This time around he went quiet. I then received a message from Brighton to say Sundowns have responded and have not moved on the four million."
