Liverpool striker Andy Carroll came close to signing for AC Milan this season.

Carroll is playing out the campaign on-loan at West Ham United, but Italian agent Carmine Coviello says things for the Geordie could've been very different.

He told TMW: "He was (proposed to Serie A clubs) when I asked for an appointment with Liverpool for Milan.

"But the management did not believe at the time that the Reds would allow him to leave on-loan. Then instead they gave him to West Ham."
