Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas says his ageing squad can continue to get positive results following today's 5-1 hammering of Bolton.
The Blues moved back to third thanks to a hat-trick from Frank Lamard and a Daniel Sturridge brace at the Reebok Stadium and Villas-Boas was supremely confident after the game that the average age of his playing group would be of detriment to their title hopes.
"It is not a question of age - it is a question of competence, and this squad is full of competence," Villas-Boas said.
"The talent of the players is never in question and I think we have enough to talent to try to continue to challenge for the Premier League."
And Villas-Boas also indicated that he knew hat-trick hero Lampard would answer his critics sooner or later.
"It was good for him because he had a good, solid performance alongside the rest of the team," he added.
"He arrived with perfect timing into the box as he has done in the past years. His talent was never in question."
