After crying off, Berbatov closer to Man Utd exit

Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov is edging closer to the exit door.

The Telegraph says having complained of feeling unwell at Manchester United's Northumberland base on Tuesday afternoon, the £30.75m club record signing spent a frustrating 90 minutes watching from the stands at St James' Park as his team-mates toiled away against Newcastle United.

After missing two golden chances in Saturday's FA Cup semi-final defeat against Manchester City, Berbatov is likely to have spent most of this game sitting down anyway, on the bench alongside United's other substitutes.

But despite being the Premier League's leading goalscorer this season, Berbatov's failure to deliver when it truly matters for United has placed a question mark over his future at the club.

Last summer, Berbatov was valued at £15m by United. This summer, the figure will be halved due to the final quarter outstanding on his contract.
