Dick Advocaat won't rule out staying with Sunderland beyond this season.
Advocaat signed a one-year deal in the summer, but he has indicated he could stick around for another season, if the Wearside club make progress.
He said: “I'm not allowed to say I want to stay, I don't want to talk about myself. Let's wait and see.
“We've got good people here, good staff, people who know the game, who played at a high level and they know the way I work.
“We still have a year to go and, hopefully, we can make some small steps in that time. Let's wait until the end of the season, but I don't rule it out, you never know."
